Gay Pride, Two-Spirit Community, Rainbow Crosswalk Ceremony

Fabulous day! The weather was perfect for the Gay Pride and Two-Spirit Community Ceremony to unveil the first Rainbow Crosswalks (x2) in Whistler, BC. We were honored to witness the event and special Two-Spirit ceremony.
We must thank Dean Nelson, CEO of Gay Whistler for inviting us. Dean was instrumental in getting these Rainbow Crosswalks installed.
"What a spectacular day. To love, be compassionate and just be yourself." — Dean Nelson, Gay Whistler

Please think twice about whether the world really needs more Canada

The endless noise of politics to the south of us is hard to wade through for many people in Canada. Our country has been held up as a bastion of hope in an otherwise depressing time. If you take a good look, it becomes rather superficial.
A Senator that doesn't know who is Canadian
Senator Lynn Beyak encouraged First Nations people to "Trade your status card[s] for a Canadian citizenship" ignoring that First Nations people are Canadian from birth. There are dozens of indigenous communities under boil-water advisory, some enduring these conditions for decades.

Inspire: 'I Know I'm Not Alone' (2005)

One of the many Educational Documentary Series we will be producing is called Inspire looking at the Artists and Musicians that inspire each Social Movement.
I first saw Michael Franti's 'I Know I'm Not Alone' Documentary at SASQUATCH! Music Festival. It planted a seed inside of me that grew into this website.
Now the documentary seems to be available for free online. Please enjoy. We also recommend Michael Franti & Spearhead!

Why I can absolutely NOT condone or support 'ANTIFA'

The group 'ANTIFA' has been getting a lot of attention. I felt the need to understand exactly who they are and why The Identity-Lens Project cannot support their actions.
Who is ANTIFA?
The term 'Antifa' refers to self-styled Anti-Fascists groups. The US Department of Homeland Security classifies Antifa actions as domestic terrorist violence.
Why I do NOT support them
I firmly believe that Antifa's violence is directly counter-productive. The Alt Right claim to be victims Antifa gives them exactly what they need. I support peaceful protest but I cannot support violence as a political tool.

Road Trip: Rainbow Crosswalk Event in Whistler, BC

The Identity-Lens Project crew is taking a trip from our HQ in Vancouver, BC up to Whistler for a very special event on September 15th. The first Rainbow Crosswalk in Whistler is set to be unveiled!
The Rainbow Crosswalk marks Whistler Pride and Ski Festival's 25th Anniversary. Dean Wilson of GayWhistler.com has kindly invited us up to meet and connect with key LGBT people and community leaders.

We've Relaunched — And We Want YOUR Voice

The Identity-Lens Project is back, rebuilt from the ground up — and this time, we are building it with you.
When we launched back in 2016, we believed that every person deserves a platform to speak about the issues that matter most. Civil rights. Climate rights. Cyber rights. Human dignity. That belief has not changed. What has changed is our commitment to opening the door even wider.
Every Human Voice Matters
We are now officially open for article submissions from anyone. No journalism degree. No political credentials. No social media following required. If you are a human being with something to say about human rights, we want to hear from you.
We believe that the most powerful perspectives often come from the people closest to the issues — the communities on the front lines of climate injustice, the individuals whose civil rights are under threat, the everyday people navigating a world where their digital privacy is constantly at risk.
Your experience is valid. Your story is important. Your voice deserves to be heard.
What We Are Looking For
We welcome articles, essays, personal stories, analysis, and commentary on topics including Civil Rights, Climate Rights, Cyber Rights, Social Movements, Human Rights, Community Activism, and Cultural Identity. Articles can be personal narratives, opinion pieces, factual reporting, or creative non-fiction.
There are no strict word count requirements, though we suggest between 400 and 2,000 words. Your writing does not need to be perfect — it needs to be honest.
How to Submit
Head to our Submit page in the navigation. You will need to be subscribed to our mailing list first — this allows us to contact you about your submission. Then fill out the form with your article, a brief excerpt, and a photo to accompany your piece.
Please ensure your image is either your own original photo or a genuinely copyright-free image from sources like Unsplash, Pexels, or Wikimedia Commons. Our editorial team will review every submission and may reach out with suggestions before publishing.
"Every identity is a lens. Every lens reveals a world others cannot see without you." That applies to every single one of you. We cannot wait to read what you have to say.
Welcome back. Let's build this together.
